Plan limit exceeded

If you see “You’ve hit your plan’s automated-area limit” when saving an area, or the auto-apply toggle won’t stay on, here’s how to fix it.

The limit only counts areas with automation turned ON. Areas with automation off (kept around for temperature logging) don’t count, regardless of how many you have (the total-area cap is a separate 20-area limit).

Pick whichever fits your situation.

A. Turn off automation on an existing area

Section titled “A. Turn off automation on an existing area”

If you swap which room is active seasonally, or have leftover areas from past setups, this is the easiest path.

  1. Find areas with automation currently ON in the dashboard.
  2. Open Edit on one you no longer need, switch Auto apply off, and save.
  3. Then create or edit the new area with automation ON.

You don’t have to delete the area — turning automation off stops commands at the next tick while keeping the temperature record alive.

If you genuinely need automation in several rooms permanently, switching to a higher plan is the realistic option.

  1. Open Subscription from the menu.
  2. In “Subscription management”, click Change plan / period.
  3. Pick the target plan in the LemonSqueezy Customer Portal.

The price difference is prorated onto your next invoice. See Compare plans.

After downgrading: “limit exceeded” appears unexpectedly

Section titled “After downgrading: “limit exceeded” appears unexpectedly”

If you had multiple areas under Pro (5) or Max (20) and downgraded to Solo, your existing area settings stay intact — but anything beyond the new limit no longer runs automatically.

Decide which area you want kept on, and turn auto-apply OFF on the rest from the dashboard.
