Integration overview
unawair works with two smart-home vendors: SwitchBot and Nature Remo. Connect whichever you already own — or both.
First: confirm you can drive the AC from the vendor app
Section titled “First: confirm you can drive the AC from the vendor app”Before connecting anything to unawair, register the AC as a “remote” in the SwitchBot or Nature Remo app and make sure you can turn the AC on/off (cool / heat / stop) from that app. This is a hard prerequisite.
- If the AC isn’t registered in the vendor app, unawair can’t see it at all
- If the vendor app commands the AC and nothing happens, unawair will hit the same wall
IR learning, blaster placement, and AC model compatibility are entirely the vendor’s responsibility. Getting the AC moving from the vendor app first makes any later “is this unawair or the hardware?” question much easier to answer.
For the exact AC-registration steps, check the in-app help inside the SwitchBot / Nature Remo app or the vendor’s official support site.
Choosing a vendor
Section titled “Choosing a vendor”| Nature Remo | SwitchBot | |
|---|---|---|
| Temperature precision | 0.5 °C steps | 1 °C steps (device-imposed) |
| Thermometer | Built into the unit | Add as many external Meters as you like |
| Credentials | One Access Token | Token + Secret |
| Per-room sensing | One unit per room | One hub + multiple Meters per room |
You can mix the two — e.g. Nature Remo in the living room, SwitchBot in the bedroom — and unawair will let each area pick from whichever vendor’s devices it needs.
The connection flow
Section titled “The connection flow”- Issue credentials on the vendor’s side
- SwitchBot: token + secret from the SwitchBot app
- Nature Remo: Access Token from a web page
- Paste them into unawair’s Integrations screen
- Verify that devices show up on the Devices list
- Create an area to bundle them into a control unit
