Per-room auto-control

When every room (living room, bedroom, study, kid’s room) has its own AC unit and you want them driven independently with separate comfort ranges. Pro plan (¥980/month, 5 areas) usually covers it — the typical Japanese-home layout.

  • Detached homes or apartments with 2LDK+ layouts
  • A separate AC in each room (the standard Japanese setup)
  • Multi-person households where comfort preferences differ (working from home, sleeping, kids)

IR signals don’t go through walls. The living-room hub cannot send commands to the bedroom AC across the hallway, so each room with an AC needs its own hub.

Both SwitchBot Hub 2 and Nature Remo mini 2 carry a thermometer and an IR transmitter in one unit, so a single device per room covers both sensing and control.

  1. Connect the integration: register every hub and AC in the vendor app first, then add the integration to unawair once (devices from the same vendor account are read in together).
  2. One area per room: create areas named after the physical rooms (Living room, Bedroom, Office) — each area uses its own room’s hub for both thermometer and AC → Create an area.
  3. Per-room comfort ranges: nudge them based on how each room is used (see below).
  4. Subscribe to Pro.
  5. Switch Auto apply ON on each area.
RoomSuggested rangeWhy
Living room22°C – 26°CWhere you spend the most time. The default comfort band.
Bedroom20°C – 24°CSlightly cooler for sleep, works in both summer and winter.
Office / study22°C – 25°CNarrow band for focus. Sedentary work makes you cold faster.
Kid’s room22°C – 26°CDefault. Lean a bit warmer if the child is small.

These are starting points only — adjust one bound at a time over a few days. See Comfort range.

  • The same AC can’t be assigned to “Auto apply ON” in multiple areas at once — unawair blocks it, because the two areas would race each other every 10 minutes
  • To pause automation for just one room, flip that area’s Auto apply OFF — temperature logging continues
